Haryana Central Government Employees to Receive DA and Salary Hike Under 5th and 6th Pay Commissions

Decisions are frequently being made across various states to raise the Dearness Allowance (DA) for Central Government Employees and Pensioners. Recently, the Haryana government announced an increase in DA for central employees under the 8th Pay Commission 2024.

5th and 6th Pay Commissions

The Haryana government has confirmed that the DA for employees under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions will also see an increase. Many employees in Haryana continue to work under these older pay structures in various departments. The government plans to implement this DA increase for all such employees in the near future.

Increase in DA Under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions in Haryana

As previously noted, many employees in Haryana remain under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions. The central government plans to increase the DA for these employees, with the Haryana state government announcing a 16% DA hike for those under the 5th Pay Commission and a 9% increase for those under the 6th Pay Commission.

While most state employees across the country are now under the 7th Pay Commission, some are still on the older 5th and 6th Pay Commissions, and their pay structures have not been revised recently. These employees continue to receive salaries based on the older pay matrices.

What Is the Government’s Plan for Haryana Employees?

Employees under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions in Haryana have long sought an increase in their Dearness Allowance (DA). In response to these demands, the Haryana government has decided to raise the DA for employees under these pay commissions.

The increased DA will also be transferred to employees’ PF and other savings schemes. Starting in July, employees will receive higher salaries reflecting the new DA rates.

Details of the DA Increase in Haryana

For employees under the 5th Pay Commission, the DA will increase by 16%, from 427% to 443%. Employees under the 6th Pay Commission will see a 9% increase in their DA, raising it from 230% to 239%. This adjustment will result in a higher DA based on the basic salary, providing employees with significant financial benefits.

Currently, around 250,000 employees and 262,000 pensioners in Haryana are covered by the 7th Pay Commission, and an increase in their DA is under consideration. Once the central government releases the updated DA figures for central employees, the Haryana government is expected to follow suit. Additionally, there is speculation that the 8th Pay Commission may be formed in 2024.

What Will Happen After the Formation of the 8th Pay Commission 2024?

While the 7th Pay Commission is already in place nationwide, a proposal for the 8th Pay Commission 2024 is anticipated soon. However, many employees are still on the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions, and their pay structures have not yet been revised.

In this context, the Haryana government has issued orders to increase the DA for employees under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions to 239% and 443%, respectively. This increase will take effect from July under the proposed 8th Pay Commission 2024. Arrears from January to June will be credited to employees’ accounts, and salaries from July onwards will reflect the increased DA. The Haryana government plans to distribute this amount to employees and pensioners in various ways.
