The Post Graduate course in Social Work is a two year full time Professional Course. In the First two semesters, students acquire knowledge of Human Behavior, Skills in Human Relationship, functioning of Social Systems and Institutions, practicing the methods of Social Work and values of the profession. In the third and fourth semesters, students specialize in any one of the following fields:
Urban and Rural Community Development
Labour Welfare and Human Resource Management
Medical and Psychiatric Social Work
Family and Child Welfare
The curriculum has six important components: Theory, Field Work, Summer Placement, Internship, Block Placement and Research. It enables the students to acquire necessary knowledge of Sociology, Methods and Fields of Social Work, Psychology, Philosophy and practical experience in Social Work Research. To facilitate the above complex learning process, components of the course include independent study, lectures, seminars, workshops, research,concurrent and block field work training, summer placement, rural camp and educational tour.

Internship : In addition to the above curriculum students of Semester IV are required to undertake a 60 hours employment oriented job training at a work place. |
